Problem
The current banking industry still lacks to provide a fully-online digital bank platform that meets the unique needs and preferences of a higher net worth Gen X customers. Despite the increasing demand for online banking services, this demographic still prefers in-person banking due to the lack of trust and confidence in online banking platforms. Additionally, not a lot of online platforms provide personalized financial advice, investment tracking, or access to a team of help and support that are available 24/7. This are some of the key features customers expect from their banking experience.
Solution
As a UX Designer, I was brought onto a project to design a new digital bank platform aimed at higher net worth Gen X customers. The design discovery phase had already started by some of the UX Designers on the team, and my role was to take the existing research, conduct more research, work on design concepts and turn them into a fully-functional product. To address the solution to the problem my job is to design a fully online digital bank web and native app (IOS and Android). The goal is to provide a seamless and secure banking experience that will have a minimalist and modern design aesthetic catching the attention of the target demographic, the app will also be intuitive, secure and easy to use.
By providing a comprehensive online banking platform that meets the unique needs of the target customers, we aim to increase their confidence and trust in online banking, and ultimately provide a superior banking experience.

I was onboarded to the project a few weeks after it started so the team had already conducted extensive research on the target audience, their needs, and the current state of the digital banking industry. The design concepts included a minimalist and modern design aesthetic.

Design Inspo
I did a competitive analysis and looked into banks like Marcus, Bank of America and other websites to get some design inspirations.

Design Explorations

Initially I worked on making the mobile app design look similar to the mobile web design. I made this decision for consistency, ease of use, user expectation and brand recognition. Creating a mobile app design similar to the web design can simplify the development process, as designers can utilize existing design elements and code from the web version. This can help to reduce development time and costs. But after various feedback and work sessions I started exploring other design options.

Final Notification Alerts Design

My goal was to provide an easy to understand experience for our digitally savvy Gen-X customers. During various ideation and research phases I discovered the toggle switch options are beneficial because they are simple and consistance with what the user already knows. This will also help shorten the learning curve and frustration for the user.

The final designs were made with the user in mind. Various options are available to accommodate different user preferences and device capabilities. Providing users with the ability to select their preferred biometric option is a thoughtful approach to ensuring a positive user experience. For users who don't want to use biometrics or don't have access to both Touch ID and Face ID, it's important to ensure that there are alternative authentication methods available. This could include options such as a traditional username and password or a security token, depending on the specific use case and security requirements.
Overall, the goal was to provide users with a seamless and intuitive authentication experience, while also ensuring that security needs are met. The final design offers a range of authentication options, so I can help ensure that users can access the services in the way that best suits their needs and preferences.
Rebranding
From OYKO to Cache Bank

After doing various design consultations with the clients regarding rebranding, I collaborated to develop innovative design systems and color conversion templates. These tools were designed to streamline the update process, enabling the clients to make changes quickly and efficiently, without sacrificing the quality of their brand identity. My approach to rebranding not only produced a stunning visual identity but also provided the clients with practical solutions that make it easier for them to maintain a strong brand presence over time.
